Abdiaziz Haredh
Abdiaziz Haredh serves as the Director of Technology & Innovation at ASAL iLab, where he leads the organization’s technical infrastructure, lab environments, and hands-on curriculum delivery, translating a nonprofit’s training mandate into a functioning pipeline of job-ready software engineers in Garissa. He is a software engineer, technical educator, and entrepreneur building the technology backbone of Northern Kenya’s emerging digital economy - one engineer, one product, and one system at a time.
An accomplished full-stack engineer and technical mentor, Abdiaziz is passionate about closing the technology-access gap in Northern Kenya through hands-on education, applied engineering, and locally built software. As Lead Software Engineering Instructor at ASAL iLab, he designs and delivers the organization’s full-stack curriculum in JavaScript, Python, Flask, React, and SQL taking learners from first principles to production-ready engineering skill. His approach is deliberately hands-on: students don’t just study software, they build and ship it, working on real infrastructure including the organization’s own website and internal systems. Under his technical leadership, ASAL iLab has grown from a training initiative into a lab environment producing engineers who go on to build, freelance, and found their own ventures several of which, including his own, originated inside the lab’s ecosystem.
Beyond ASAL iLab, Abdiaziz serves as a Technical Mentor at Garissa University’s Oasis Innovation Center, where he trains successive cohorts of aspiring developers, guiding many with no prior technical background toward genuine engineering competence. In parallel, he has volunteered his engineering skills to build production systems for Garissa University itself, including a job portal connecting jobseekers to employment opportunities, and a transport management system that digitizes and streamlines campus transport logistics both delivered pro bono as a contribution to institutional capacity in his home region.
Abdiaziz is also the Founder of Kitisure, a digital bus booking platform built to bring the convenience, transparency, and reliability of modern e-ticketing to Northern Kenya - a region historically underserved by such infrastructure. Kitisure replaces informal, cash-based booking processes with a structured digital alternative, addressing a real and daily friction point for travelers across the region.
He is additionally the Founder and lead engineer behind Hisab, a business management and accounting SaaS platform purpose-built for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) a segment that forms the backbone of Northern Kenya’s economy but has historically lacked access to affordable, locally relevant financial tooling. Hisab combines point-of-sale functionality with double-entry accounting rigor and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) VAT compliance, giving local business owners enterprise-grade financial visibility without enterprise-grade cost or complexity. Hisab is live today and in active use by SMEs, with continued development focused on deepening its accounting capabilities and expanding access across the region.
Abdiaziz believes that sustainable technological development in Northern Kenya begins with local talent, locally built tools, and infrastructure designed from within the community it serves rather than imported from outside it. Through teaching, mentorship, and entrepreneurship, he continues to build the pipeline of engineers and technology-enabled businesses shaping the region’s digital future.
